Commencement Information

Tahlequah Ceremony Times
 

Commencement will be held Saturday, December 19th, 2009, in three ceremonies at the Jack Dobbins Field House. For more information, download the complete Instructions for Participation in the Fall 2009 Commencement Ceremonies (pdf).

The order of Colleges is as follows:

  •   8:30 a.m.: College of Education
  • 11:30 a.m.: College of Business and Technology &
                         College of Science and Health Professions
  •   2:30 p.m.: College of Liberal Arts

     

Notice: We will be using TICKETS for entry into the Jack Dobbins Field House. Each graduate will need to pick up his/her tickets at the times listed below. Please note the following:

  1. The graduate must pick up his/her tickets and bring a picture id (university id or driver’s license).  The graduate must distribute the tickets to friends and family members.
  2. Each graduate will receive tickets for entry into the field house based on the number of graduates attending each ceremony compared to the maximum occupancy. Children over the age of two must have a ticket and those two or under may sit on someone’s lap.
  3. You cannot pick up another graduate's tickets.
  4. All other family/friends can attend and watch the event on the big screen in the NET Auditorium.
     

Ceremony 1: Education will pick up tickets - six (6) per graduate on Friday December 18th from 9:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Admissions and Records on the Upper Level of the CASE Building, Tahlequah Campus.Please be in the North Gym for line up by 8:00 a.m. Graduates unable to pick up tickets on Friday should arrive at the North Gym of the Jack Dobbins Field House by 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Ceremony 2: Business and Technology and Science & Health Professions will pick up tickets - six (6) tickets per graduate - from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday December 19th at the University Center 1st floor lobby.  Please be in the North Gym for line up by 11:00 a.m.

Ceremony 3: Liberal Arts will pick up tickets - eight (8) tickets per graduate - from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45p.m. Please be in the North Gym for line up by 2 p.m.

Graduates must attend the ceremony for the college that awards his/her degree. 

 

Before Commencement Checklist

  1. Apply for Commecement by October 1 for Spring; March 1 for Summer; May 1 for Fall.

  2. Resolve any outstanding financial obligations to the University, such as library fines, parking tickets, or other holds. You will not receive your diploma if you have outstanding holds. Questions regarding a hold should be directed to the office that instated the hold.

  3. Grades for correspondence, incompletes, and transcripts of work completed at other schools must be in the Office of Admissions and Records by January 15th, 2010 for your name to remain on the roster of Fall 2009 graduates.

    Obtain your cap and gown from the Riverhawk Shoppe Bookstore at your convenience. The Bookstore will also be open from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 19th.

  4. The purchase price of graduation apparel for the undergraduate candidate is $32.98 and master’s candidate is $35.98. The graduation apparel is yours to keep. The purchase price for undergraduate honor cords is $14.98 for those graduating Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude. Master’s honor cords are $14.98.

  5. Obtain Graduate Announcements from the Riverhawk Shoppe  Bookstore.

 

Diplomas

Your diploma will be mailed to the address you put on your application. Make sure that the degree auditor has your correct address.

Fall 2009 Graduates - As soon as your final grades for the fall semester are recorded, your eligibility for graduation will be checked. If you meet all requirements and your account with the university is clear, your diploma will be mailed to you in mid-April to the address you gave when you applied for graduation.

Duplicate diplomas cost $20 for bachelors or masters and $40 for optometry. Processing time is approximately two weeks.
