American Indian: Environmental, Natural Resources, Forestry & Agriculture Scholarships

Through the National FFA Foundation, businesses and individuals support scholarships that are awarded to students with a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals. Scholarships support non-FFA and FFA high school seniors and collegiate members.

AGCO $1,000 Scholarship
Since 2012, the AGCO dealer program has provided more than $400,000 to chapters and members. Each AGCO dealer has the opportunity to provide up to five total forms of assistance in any combination of scholarships and grants to selected chapters. Once FFA has received the enrollments, FFA contacts the local chapters selected and encourages them to provide qualified applicants for each scholarship.

America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders - $1,500 scholarship
America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders exists to make youth aware of the various career opportunities within the industry of agriculture by providing scholarships that help further their education. The Monsanto Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer, offers $1,500 scholarships to students pursuing a career in various sects of agriculture.

In order to apply for this scholarship, students must meet the below criteria:

• Must be a high school senior (public, private or home-schooled) or enrolled in college full time (minimum of 12 credit hours).
• Must be planning to pursue a degree in a qualifying area of study.
• Must be planning to attend a vocational, 2-year or 4-year qualifying ag related study program after high school.
• Must meet a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement.
• Must obtain no less than two electronic endorsements from qualifying farmers who live or farm in an eligible county.

Ford Built Tough - $1,000 Scholarship
In 1998 Ford started supporting the National FFA Organization by being one of the first dealer scholarship programs and awarded $405,000 to 405 students. After years of continued support and thousands of recipients more than $12.4 million in scholarships have been awarded by Ford dealers in across the nation. At a cost of $500 to the dealer and $635 to Ford corporate, Ford will match a total of 500 scholarships that will be awarded in the name of the partnering dealer. Each dealer has the opportunity to sponsor as many $1,000 dollar scholarships as they choose.

John Deere - $2,000 scholarship
FFA and John Deere have a more than 75-year strong relationship. By supporting the scholarship program, John Deere hopes to identify and help develop future Deere and/or dealership employees and the next generation of community leaders.

John Deere offers dealer-matched scholarships. Each Deere dealer is permitted to award up to five scholarships at a cost of $1,000 each. John Deere matches each donation at 100 percent for a $2,000 scholarship. Dealers select chapters by state, city, county, zip code or specific schools where the scholarship will be awarded. Students must be going into an ag-related major to be eligible for this scholarship.

To be awarded a $2,000 John Deere scholarship applicants must:

• Be an active FFA member in a chapter selected by a local dealer
• Complete the online FFA Scholarship application

RAM Trucks - $2,000 Scholarship
The Ram Trucks brand maintains a 65-year-strong partnership with FFA based on the historic connection between traditional American farming and Ram. Ram Trucks recognizes agriculture as a key target market segment and audience for the brand and proudly continues to support FFA and its mission.

Administered by AISES for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation (BNSF), this scholarship is made available to American Indian high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher who reside in one of the 13 states serviced by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation and its affiliated companies: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington.

Scholarship Amount

$2,500 per academic year, up to 4 years. This award is for four years (for a maximum of 8 semesters) or until baccalaureate degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. Those awarded must maintain a 2.75 GPA their freshman and sophomore years and a 3.0 GPA their junior and senior years to receive scholarships for all four years.

• A full-time student enrolled in his/her Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university.
• Declared major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology).
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
• Identify as a member of a minority group (e.g. African American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific American or Alaska Native).

BrownandCaldwell Navajo Nation Scholarship: brownandcaldwell.com

Brown and Caldwell offers a scholarship designed to encourage and support students who are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation that have a desire to improve our world by developing their skills and knowledge in preparation for a career in the environmental profession.

Award:

• $1,000 for up to four (4) years of schooling (for a total of $4,000).
• The scholarship will be distributed annually as long as the eligibility criteria continue to be met.
• A laptop computer or tablet (awarded the first year only).

Eligibility:
Candidates for the Brown and Caldwell Navajo Nation Scholarship Program must be:

• A United States citizen or permanent resident.
• A full-time student enrolled at an accredited two-year junior or four-year undergraduate college, or a senior in high school with a letter of acceptance from the college or university to be attended.
• Have or intend to declare a major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology).
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
• An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

The Udall scholarship honors the legacies of Morris Udall and Stewart Udall, whose careers had a significant impact on Native American self-governance, health care, and the stewardship of public lands and natural resources.

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to Native American nations or to the environment. The Udall offers scholarships in three areas: tribal policy, Native health care and the environment.

Tribal Policy: For Native Americans and Alaska Natives working on an array of policy issues in Indian country

Native Health Care: For Native Americans and Alaska Natives pursuing health-related careers

Environment: For undergraduates interested in conservation and environmental issues

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship: udall.gov

The Woman's National Farm and Garden Association offers the Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship for advanced study in agriculture, horticulture, and allied subjects. The fellowship is open to properly qualified young women who have proven their ability by several years experience. Awards have been made in recognition of leadership in cooperative extension work and initiative in scientific research.

The amount of the award is between $1,000 and $3,000.

The fellowship is to be used for advanced study (masters or doctorate) at an educational institution of recognized standing within the United States. It is to be chosen by the candidate and with the approval of the Fellowship Committee.
