Administered by AISES for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation (BNSF), this scholarship is made available to American Indian high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher who reside in one of the 13 states serviced by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation and its affiliated companies: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington.

Scholarship Amount: $2,500 per academic year, up to 4 years. This award is for four years (for a maximum of 8 semesters) or until baccalaureate degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. Those awarded must maintain a 2.75 GPA their freshman and sophomore years and a 3.0 GPA their junior and senior years to receive scholarships for all four years.

The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation, and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY: 
To apply, students must be:
  • A high school senior
  • From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
  • Pell-eligible
  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.
*For American Indian/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required.

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program is for African American/Black, Native American/American Indian and Hispanic or Latino undergraduate students pursuing bachelor's degrees in the chemical sciences, and planning careers in the chemical sciences. A chemical science is defined as any discipline centered on chemistry and awarding a degree accordingly (see supplemental information for eligible and ineligible majors and careers). Double majors are acceptable as long as one of those majors are a chemical science. Selected recipients are awarded up to $5,000* per academic year.

Every year, the Foundation awards thousands of dollars in architecture scholarships to high school students; to architecture students in NAAB-accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs; to Architect Registration Exam (ARE) candidates who are working toward becoming licensed architects; and to licensed architects pursuing educational enrichment opportunities.

Current Scholarships Available:

Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholarship: This scholarship is an early career award that honors the memory of Jason Pettigrew, Assoc. AIA. It helps support emerging professionals who are working toward their license with a scholarship covering the full cost of the ARE (the Architect Registration Exam), as well as study materials.

Richard Morris Hunt Prize: The Richard Morris Hunt Prize (RMHP) is $20,000 travel fellowship allowing architects to conduct cutting-edge research on emerging trends in historic preservation. Alternating between French and American awardees, the RMHP program has been fostering cross-cultural professional exchange between France and the United States since 1990.

a/e ProNet David W. Lakamp AIA Scholarship: Named after David W. Lakamp, a founder of a/e ProNet and a trusted advisor to the profession of architecture, this scholarship is awarded annually to two students who demonstrate a strong interest in practice and risk management in the field of architecture. Each student receives a $5,000 award.

AF/McAslan Fellowship: Established in 2019, the Architects Foundation/McAslan Fellowship supports travel for two students to engage with UK-based firm John McAslan+ Partners. Students must be matriculating from a NAAB-accredited undergraduate architecture program or studying within a NAAB-accredited master's degree
program.

Diversity Advancement Scholarship: This multiyear scholarship supports high school and undergraduate minority students who are entering, enrolled in, or transferring into a NAAB-accredited undergraduate architecture program. Scholarships may be renewed every year until your degree is completed, for up to 5 years ($20,000 total award).

Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship: Sho-Ping Chin, FAIA, helped shape the national discourse on women in architecture and design, and this $10,000 scholarship honors her legacy. The scholarship is open to third- and fourth-year women architecture students in a NAAB-accredited undergraduate degree program, as well as women in any level of graduate study in a NAAB-accredited program. In addition to the financial award, recipients also get paired with a senior mentor from Payette for their scholarship year.

Yann Weymouth Graduate Scholarship: The Yann Weymouth Graduate Scholarship was established in 2018 in honor of Yann Weymouth, AIA. This scholarship will be awarded each year to an architecture student with a focus on the design intersection of sustainability, resilience, wellness and beauty. The recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship, as well as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mentored by Weymouth.

Sho-Ping Chin Women's Leadership Summit Grant: Honoring the founding leader of the AIA Women's Leadership Summit (WLS), this grant opportunity allows emerging women leaders in architecture to attend the biennial conference. Grantees receive registration to WLS and up to $700 in travel reimbursement. The next WLS grants will be available in 2021.

The A.T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program is funded through a variety of sources, including memorials, individual donations, AISES fundraisers, and other corporate grants. This scholarship fund was established to memorialize A.T. Anderson, one of the AISES founders.

Applicants must be: an enrolled citizen or a decedent of an enrolled citizen of a federal or state recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village; or Native Hawaiian or decedent from a Native Hawaiian; or Pacific Islander or decedent from Pacific Islander; or Indigenous person of Canada. Enrollment documents and/or a copy of birth certificate(s) showing descendancy from an enrolled citizen, Indigenous group of Canada, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander are acceptable. Applicant may
also, instead, provide a copy of their Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or Certificate of Degree of Alaska Native Blood (CDIB) card. Please note, AISES may not always have scholarships available for non-citizens of the United States.

AEG is the acknowledged international leader in environmental and engineering geology, and is greatly respected for its stewardship of the profession. AEG offers information on environmental and engineering geology useful to practitioners, scientists, students, and the public. The NSF GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions.

The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.

Eligibility:
  • Be a US citizen, US national, or permanent resident
  • Intend to pursue a research-based Master's or Ph.D. program in a GRFP-supported field
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program at an accredited United States graduate institution, with a US campus, by fall following selection
  • Be at an early stage in your graduate career
  • Have completed no more than one academic year of full-time graduate study (or the equivalent)
  • Graduate students are limited to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. The US$10,000 Fellowship is awarded annually to up to 35 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. It may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.

The American Nuclear Society (ANS) student members are the future of the society and ANS believes in rewarding those members for their academic, service, and leadership excellence. ANS scholarships are awarded to applicants that have personified the high standards set by the Society and since 1979, over $5 million in scholarships have been distributed.

Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen, undergraduates, and graduate students, and are distributed at the beginning of each school year. Evaluation is based upon numerous factors, such as, academic excellence, leadership within the ANS, references, career goals, and financial need.

Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate scholarships are open to ANS student members enrolled in a course of study relating to a degree in nuclear science or nuclear engineering at an accredited university in the United States. All applications, except those for incoming freshmen, must be sponsored by a faculty advisor of an ANS Student Section or Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter.

Incoming freshmen scholarships are open to graduating high-school seniors who have enrolled full-time in college courses pursuing science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) with an interest in working in nuclear science and technology.

Big Ten Academic Alliance applicants must propose research that is conducted at the Smithsonian in an area of research outlined in the publication, Smithsonian Opportunities for Research and Study (SORS). Only students currently enrolled in one of the Big Ten Academic Alliance member universities are eligible. Students must have completed all course work for their programs, and must have been admitted into doctoral candidacy and satisfied all requirements except completion of the dissertation by the time their appointment begins in order to qualify. The program is open to US citizens and Non-US citizens. Applicants whose native language is not English are expected to have the ability to write and converse fluently in English. All application materials must be presented in English.

Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) is an undergraduate-to-graduate bridge program designed to broaden participation of historically underrepresented communities in the atmospheric and related sciences.

Our Program is designed to promote and support research, mentoring and community. SOARS Prot g's can participate for up to four (4) summers conducting research in atmospheric and earth-system sciences. SOARS offers comprehensive financial support for summer research, conference travel, as well as undergraduate and graduate school funding. Over 90% of SOARS Prot g's advance to graduate school; and many have entered the workforce with the MS degree, and/or continued onto the PhD degree.

SOARS invites students from multiple STEM disciplines -- including chemistry, ecology, engineering, geography, mathematics, meteorology, physics, and the social sciences--to deepen their expertise in understanding the Earth's Atmosphere. In particular, SOARS seeks to involve students from groups that are historically underrepresented in the sciences, including Black or African-American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, female, first-generation college students, veterans, and students with disabilities. SOARS welcomes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students; students who have experienced, and worked to overcome, educational or economic disadvantages, and/or who have personal or family circumstances that may complicate their continued progress in research careers.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASH Foundation) invites full-time students who will be or who are currently enrolled in a graduate program in communication sciences and disorders to apply for graduate scholarships.

Scholarships are available to students who are undergraduate seniors or who are currently pursuing master's or doctoral degrees. Both research and clinical doctorate candidates are eligible.

General Scholarships: Up to 15 general graduate student scholarships, of $5,000 each, will be awarded.

Endowed Scholarships: Up to nine graduate student scholarships will be awarded for special purposes. Scholarships of $5,000 each are available for the following categories, and applicants who wish to be considered for any of these endowed scholarships must indicate this during the Graduate Student Scholarship application process.

  • International Student Scholarship: Up to three graduate student scholarships, underwritten by the Kala Singh Memorial Fund for international students studying in the United States. Only non-U.S. citizens are eligible.
  • Minority Student Scholarship: Up to three graduate student scholarships, underwritten by the ASH Foundation's Minority Fund for students who are members of a racial or ethnic minority group and are U.S. citizens. (Please note this scholarship is separate from ASHA's Minority Student Leadership Program.)
  • NSSLHA Scholarship: Up to three graduate student scholarships, underwritten by the NSSLHA Scholarship Fund for undergraduate senior students with active National NSSLHA memberships and who will begin graduate study in the fall of 2020.
