HawkReach Counseling and Student Health Services by the way of the Don’t Cancel Class program can cover your class by presenting on a number of topics that are relevant to college students. Even if you don’t need to cancel a class, you are always welcome to request any of these presentations for your classes throughout the year.

Stressed Out

Topic: Stress management
Description: Stressed out?! Most college students count stress as their number one obstacle to getting good grades, having healthy relationships, sleeping, and functioning well in general. This presentation will help give you the tools to manage stress effectively by teaching you meditation and breathing techniques, time management skills, “how to say no” to activities and responsibilities that may overwhelm you, and more!

Description: A fun and interactive game based on the popular TV Game show, Jeopardy! Students will break into groups and answer questions regarding alcohol use, drug prevention, etc.

Description: Music plays an interesting role in people’s socialization.
Many people do not realize the words they are singing in their cars and how they perpetuate cycles of violence. This program will take a deeper look into some top of the charts songs and the violence they convey.

Fairy Tale Endings: Do Relationships Really Have Them?

: Healthy Relationships
Description: Ideologies of gender, sexuality, and the "fairy tale" ending are constructed in Disney films past and present. When children grow up they are still bombarded with images and messages from the media with society’s ideals for gender roles and fairy tale relationships.
