Panel Discussion: Ten Years of the Cherokee Language Consortium

As a joint effort between all three federally recognized Cherokee tribes, the Cherokee Language Consortium celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2017. The group translates new terminology and maintains family, community, and cultural contacts between all three tribes. Current members of the Consortium will discuss what it’s like being a part of this historic group.

Student participants in this unique Cherokee language teacher training program will discuss the challenges of being second language learners and working towards becoming certified Cherokee language teachers. Discussion will be led by program coordinator Lawrence Panther.


The Natural Approach in the Choctaw Language
