The DNN platform offers a way to create a simple department, group or college website that requires little technical expertise for ongoing management. Our team will set you up with a website solution that provides a defined package of modules, design layouts and an easy-to-use, web-based administrative tools for content management. The websites are designed to meet common functional needs of university departments and administrative units in a visually compelling, university-branded design. A number of template options are available, but further customization to the visual design or site functionality is limited. Basic training, user support and site maintenance are provided by the Web Communications team.
NSU websites are provided on a dedicated hosting infrastructure designed and maintained by Information Technology Services (ITS) using the DNN open-source content management framework.
General features include:
- Install easily with a web-based form.
- Edit content through a simple web interface; no HTML training required.
- Upload user files (attachments, images, etc.) to protected space.
- Employ optional features by way of included modules (add-ons) commonly used and requested by DNN website developers at NSU.
Each department, unit and college is responsible for preparing and updating all materials, in an accessible format, that it publishes on primary and secondary Web pages. The use of frames, Java, animation or other advanced formats or browser-specific capabilities can’t be used on any primary or secondary NSU page unless approved by Web Communications. Graphics and animations must be minimal in file size and serve functional purposes.
