SOAR REGISTRATION FOR FIRST TIME STUDENTS STARTING IN THE SPRING 2020

SOAR REGISTRATION FOR FIRST TIME STUDENTS STARTING IN THE FALL 2020

What should I expect at my SOAR session?

Regardless if you participate in the mandatory transfer or first-time freshmen SOAR sessions both programs have three primary outcomes:

  • New students will connect with other incoming students, upperclassmen, faculty, and staff to begin creating a network of support as they enter the university.
  • New students will gain knowledge about the support services on campus, opportunities for involvement, and their rights and responsibilities.
  • New students will succeed through the advising and registration process leaving with a complete and appropriate academic schedule.

What else should I know about my SOAR session?

For First-Time Freshmen, a few things to make note of about your session:

  • Registration will take place from 8–8:30 a.m. Please plan to arrive during that time.
  • Plan to spend all day on campus. The program will not be finished until 4 p.m.
  • Parents or guests are welcome to attend SOAR.
  • You must bring a photo ID (no exceptions).
  • Park in the parking lot on the North side of the WEBB building beside the University Center, in any spot marked as Commuter Parking.
  • Your NSU student ID photo will be taken after enrollment.
  • Bring any immunization records or housing forms that you still need to turn in. Staff will be available to assist you in receiving those forms.
  • ACT scores determine whether you are required to take a placement exam prior to your SOAR session to ensure correct enrollment into one or more of your college courses. If testing is required, you will receive a separate email from NSU's Testing Services office, or you may call to find out which exams you may be required to take: 918-444-2139. If you are required to test and have not done so prior to your SOAR session, your SOAR session will be rescheduled.
  • Lunch for the student and up to two guests is included in registration.
  • If you need to change your appointment to a different day, please reschedule by calling Student Engagement at 918-444-2526.

For incoming Tahlequah Transfer Students, a few things about your session:

  • Your orientation session will take place with Transfer Student Services.
  • Please plan to spend two hours at your appointment.
