Contact Dr. Kelly Jo Larsen

Kelly Jo Larsen began working at NSU in July 2015. She received her Bachelor's degree in History from Washington and Lee University and went on to complete her Master's in Education at The College of William and Mary and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Bowling Green State University. Her dissertation looked at social capital for LGBTQ+ student leaders of identity-based student organizations. Prior to arriving at NSU, Kelly Jo worked at BGSU with leadership programming and student organizations, at Tulane University with a sophomore year experience program, and at The College of William and Mary in leadership programming.

Kelly Jo loves working in student engagement because of the opportunities to foster student growth and development and to connect students to their communities both on and off campus. She is passionate about creating inclusive communities, helping students discover their own paths in life, and fostering a sense of home on college campuses.

In her spare time, Kelly Jo is a self-proclaimed history nerd and enjoys visiting any kind of museum. She enjoys baking and is a soccer and football fan, backing the Columbus Crew and the New Orleans Saints.

De'Jon Jordan, Coordinator of Diversity & Inclusion

De`Jon is an alumni of Northeastern State University where he graduated in 2010 with his bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. He began working at NSU shortly after. His most recent position is Coordinator of Diversity and Inclusion (2015- present), where he works everyday to insure and open and inclusive environment to all the NSU community through education and participation.  

He is currently pursuing is Masters in Higher Education Leadership. In his free time De`Jon is a movie buff with a personal collection of 300+ movies, he enjoys the river, his cats, and cooking.  


Kristi Norris, Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life & Leadership

Kristi has been at NSU since June 2016. She received her Bachelor's degree in Women's and Gender Studies and Spanish from The University of Tulsa, and has been longing to return to Northeast Oklahoma since graduation. In between undergraduate and her arrival at NSU, Kristi traveled as a sorority leadership consultant and then worked in Chicago as a graduate admissions counselor. 

As the Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life & Leadership, Kristi advises the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, Order of Omega, and oversees the Fraternity/Sorority Life program. She is also collaborating to coordinate and implement a leadership development program on the Tahlequah campus. Kristi's favorite parts of student engagement are learning more about students' plans for the future and their passions while helping them grow in their social intelligence and leadership potential. She's passionate about students learning responsibility and helping them accomplish their goals.

In her free time, Kristi likes to read and study sociological phenomena, buy candles for her house, and spend time exploring Tulsa's restaurant scene.

Jacob Patrick, Coordinator of Orientation & Community Engagement

Jacob began working at NSU in June 2016. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History from McPherson College and completed his Master’s of Science in Education with emphasis in Higher Education Student Affairs at Fort Hays State University.

As the Coordinator of Orientation & Community Engagement, he is responsible for the planning and execution of Student Orientation Advising & Registration (SOAR) programs, advising NSU Traditions Council, the RiverHawk Food Pantry, connecting students with service opportunities, advising the Rozell Scholars in putting on the Big Event, and providing other service and political engagement programming. Jacob loves working with students during their transition in and out of the university. He is driven to help students discover their passions, gain new skills, and make connections that benefit them in both their college and lifetime careers.

When Jacob is not at work he enjoys performing in plays, playing trivia games, travel, and volunteering.

Kathy Liles, Administrative Assistant

Kathy has worked in the Student Activities Office for 10 years. She enjoys interacting with the students and helping wherever she can. Being from Tahlequah NSU has become a second home to her. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
