Complete the FAFSA

Follow the steps to apply for financial aid at Northeastern State University.

NOTE: If you will be taking lower division courses through the NSU-BA/Tulsa Community College program, your financial aid will be coordinated through the Financial Aid Office at Tulsa Community College's Southeast Campus. You can reach a TCC financial aid representative at 918-595-7700.

Step 1

You and a parent (if dependent) can visit to sign up for an FSA ID prior to completing the FAFSA.  This ID will be required to sign the FAFSA application each year that you apply.  You will use the same FSA ID every year so its important to keep it in a secure location.  We recommend that when signing up you use an email address that you will always have access too in case you need to retrieve it at a later date.

Step 2

File your FAFSA on the web at: as soon as possible after Oct. 1.  You will need to use your current year federal income taxes, the best and most accurate way to supply your tax information is to use the IRS data retrieval tool located in the FAFSA application.  You will be prompted and given the option to use the IRS data retrieval tool when completing the FAFSA.  Filing on the web ensures a faster response from our office.  NSU's federal school code is 003161.

Step 3

After filing your FAFSA, you will receive either an e-mail with a secure link to view your Student Aid Report (SAR), or a paper copy of your SAR by mail. Student Financial Services also receives your SAR and will request further information to complete your financial aid award.

Step 4

Please respond promptly to any requests you receive from our office. Failure to respond to our requests for additional information will delay your financial aid award.

Step 5

Financial Aid Award Notification. When our office has thoroughly reviewed your financial aid application, we will notify you of your financial aid awards by email.
