International Undergraduate Admission

In order to apply for admission to Northeastern State University, you will need to submit the following required documents:

Required Admission Documents for Regular Undergraduate Admission

  • International undergraduate application with $25 non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcripts with English translation
  • WES Credential Evaluation for transfer students who have earned college credit outside the U.S.
  • Official college transcripts for transfer students who have earned college credit while in the U.S.
  • TOEFL score of 500 (61 iBT) or IELTS of 5.5
    Note: if you do not have an official score or you do not meet the minimal score required, apply for ESL Admission
  • Bank document with a minimum balance of $23,267 (USD)
  • Copy of passport

Please understand that Northeastern State University may require further certification of finances or advance payment of tuition and fees from students whose funds originate in countries where severe currency restrictions exist.

Open Admission Dates

  • Summer 2018: December 1, 2017 - April 1, 2018
  • Fall 2018: February 1, 2018 - July 1, 2018

Application Fee

Applicants can make the application fee payment by mailing a check or money order payable to Northeastern State University for $25 USD to The Office of International Programs, Northeastern State University, 600 N Grand Avenue, Tahlequah, OK 74464 USA.

Applicants who are unable to mail a check or money order can call our office at 918.444.2050 to make other arrangements for paying the application fee. The application fee is non-refundable. 

Transcripts

International students for undergraduate study at NSU must provide official transcripts from all secondary schools (high schools) and post-secondary schools (colleges) attended.

Transfer Students

If you are applying as a transfer student, you must have a minimum of 24 semester hours earned with passing grades and a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500/61 (IELTS 5.5).

The Northeastern State University ETS/TOEFL school code is 6485.

International students who have met the 24 credit hour transfer criteria must provide official transcripts from colleges or universities previously attended.

If credit was earned outside the United States, prospective students will also need to submit a course by course credential evaluation (e.g. WES - World Education Services) before admission to Northeastern State University.

TOEFL/IELTS

Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are a requirement for admission to all NSU programs for all international students.

  • TOEFL 500 (61 iBT)
  • IELTS 5.5

Bank Document

All international applicants will have to provide evidence of financial resources.

All international applicants must provide proof of liquid assets sufficient to pay for the entire first year of education and living expenses. For NSU, it is required that students submit a recent bank document showing a minimum balance of $21,185.
