I am the university representative covering Southwest Oklahoma. I am a 2018 graduate of Northeastern State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I am excited to share with prospective students what Northeastern State University and Tahlequah have to offer.

To me, NSU represents home. I was actually born in what is now the College of Optometry. I have lived in the Tahlequah area since the 7th grade. Growing up in Tahlequah, NSU was always here. It was not until I came to finish my degree that I fully understood the RiverHawk mentality, to see how hard faculty and staff work to make this university run, and to see how much students are involved. It is amazing to see how that all comes together to make Northeastern State University what it is.

NSU gives you so many opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s the Northeastern Student Government Association, Rookie Bridge Camp, The Big Event, or many of our other student organizations, there are numerous ways to get involved.  By signing up for our student organizations, students are able to give back and to enjoy themselves while doing it.

As you begin your own life journey, always remember that this is the time you begin to create the life you envision for yourself. It won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it! At NSU, you will have support and encouragement. You will meet people who genuinely care about your success.

If you have any questions about Northeastern State University, the area, the students, or the atmosphere, please feel free to reach out anytime! I can’t wait to meet you.

FAVORITE ASPECT OF NSU:
My favorite aspect of NSU is the sense of community. I love how supportive everyone is and that it is easy to find your place. No matter what your path is, there are people to reach out to who will help you find your way, and who genuinely care about your success.

WHY I LOVE MY JOB:
I love my job because I get to actively seek out people just to tell them how great Northeastern State really is! I get to share all of the things I love about NSU, how great the people are, and the places on-campus that I love.

FAVORITE SPOT ON CAMPUS:
Seminary Hall, hands down. To me, it is so cool to have a part of living history on campus. Seeing how this exact building has been a staple in this town since 1889 is remarkable. I like to see the old pictures of Seminary Hall and imagine what the area was like then.

FAVORITE NSU SPORT:
Women’s basketball for sure! I have always been a basketball fan and love to see their hard work pay off. Concession popcorn and the band are two more reasons I love cheering on the Lady RiverHawks.

ADVICE TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:
Step out and step up! This is the time when you start making the life you want for yourself. Don’t be afraid to try new things, take on new roles and responsibilities, and live life! Sometimes your best experiences and memories happen because you took a chance and tried.
