Academic Probation
What is Academic Probation?
FAQ's
I received an email stating that I've entered into the Academic Probation Process.
What does this mean? The Academic Probation Process is a warning that you have fallen into academic difficulty
and that you need to improve your grades to reach NSU standards of retention (cumulative
GPA of 2.0). I have a probation hold on my account. How do I get this off? If you have a probation hold on your account, you need to attend an Academic Improvement Workshop. This workshop is a part of the academic probation process and it is to ensure that you are aware of the academic resources available to you. Please reach out to studentsuccess@nsuok.edu to sign up for a workshop. What happens if my academic performance continues to decline? If you maintain a semester GPA of 2.0, you will continue on the academic probation
process for another semester, if your semester GPA falls below 2.0, you will be suspended
from the university. You can apply to the university after one semester. Is my Academic Probation status noted on my permanent academic record? Is Academic Probation different from Financial Aid Probation?
Yes, this is different than Financial Aid Probation & Suspension…however many students
who have a GPA below a 2.000 have lost their eligibility to receive federal and state
financial aid. Check with Student Financial Services to see if you are still eligible
to receive financial aid this semester (or next semester).
