What is an Official Transcript?
NSU requires an official transcript to be mailed to the Office of International Programs. An official transcript can be defined by the following:
- Must be sent and sealed by institution of study
- High School transcript must contain at least 3 years of study
- Must be accompanied by an English translation (if original transcript is in English, translation is not needed)
- Must have 4.0 scale GPA listed
If your transcript does not match the above list, your application process may be delayed until official transcript is received.
While digital copies of transcripts can be used to make an admission decision, official transcripts must be received by NSU upon arrival to the U.S.
International Undergraduate
International applicants for undergraduate study at NSU must provide official transcripts from all secondary schools (high schools) attended.
As a transfer applicant, you will need to submit official transcripts from each college attended. However, since you are submitting transcripts for undergraduate coursework, you are not required to submit any secondary school transcripts or a diploma.
If your undergraduate credit was earned outside the United States, you also need to submit a course-by-course credential evaluation (WES - World Education Services or ECE) before any credit can be transferred and posted to your Northeastern State University transcript.
English Proficiency
Scores from the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are a requirement for admission to all NSU programs for all international students.
The NSU TOEFL Institution Code (or Destination Institution Code) is 6485.
The Official Report from the testing company should be mailed to our office address at 600 N Grand Avenue, Tahlequah, OK 74464 USA
International Undergraduate & Transfer
Submit one of the following to satisfy the English Proficiency Requirement.
- TOEFL 500 (61 IBT)
- IELTS 5.5
- PTE Academic 44
- iTEP Academic 3.5
For applicants with more than 24 credit hours at a U.S. university, English Proficiency is not required.
Proof of Finances
All F1 and J1 international applicants must document their ability to meet all education and living expenses for the first year of intended study before the university can issue a Certificate of Visa Eligibility (form I-20 or DS-2019).
