As Coordinator & International Student Advisor, what you do do?

I serve as the Coordinator and International Student Advisor for the Office of International Programs. I primarily advise all international students coming to NSU and make sure they are ready to start their educational journey here at Northeastern State! I also assist with international recruitment and planning events for international students. I have been in this position since July 2021.

What do you enjoy most about being at NSU?

The thing I most enjoy about NSU is the sense of community amongst students, faculty, and staff. Being here for the past few years, I met my best friends here and made some great connections with the NSU community. Everyone is willing to help and make sure people feel welcomed on our campus.

What inspires you about NSU?

Something that inspires me about NSU is seeing the success stories of students who have found their "home" when they come to college. Whether it is a high school senior who is about to start college, a transfer student, or an international student, it is so awesome to see these students come to our university and see them succeed here.

Bethany Worthington | Graduate Assistant & Study Abroad Coordinator

Bethany Worthington

As Study Abroad Coordinator, what do you do?

As NSU's Study Abroad Coordinator I help domestic students coordinate traveling to different countries, counsel students through the study abroad process, and make sure students are prepared to live in another country. I oversee students from application to return of their international endeavors. I also work as a study abroad recruiter by attending promotional events and hosting campus wide study abroad information sessions. I have been in this position since September 2021.

What do you enjoy most about being at NSU?

I love that NSU is a tightly knit community. Everywhere I go I see a familiar face. The professors are so caring and the class sizes are small so it makes NSU an easy place to meet people. Being a student here has been an amazing experience, but working here has been even better. NSU feels like home and that is my favorite thing about being here.

What inspires you about NSU?

As I am going to graduate school to be a counselor, NSU has inspired me by encouraging me that I can and will do anything I set my mind to. They are equipping me with new skills each and every day that build my confidence as a future mental health professional. I also gain inspiration through my job at NSU through my coworkers. They all lead with grace and use their strengths to help me grow as well. They make my job such an enjoyable and healthy place to work that most days it doesn't even feel like I am working. This inspires me to always lead as they do when I eventually enter into my full time career.
