International Student Emergency Scholarship

The Office of International Programs is offering the International Student Emergency Scholarship to support international undergraduate and graduate students experiencing short‑term financial crises. Eligible students can receive up to $1,500 USD per Academic Year. Please read the following information below to learn more about the application process. 

International Student Emergency Scholarship Application

Eligibility Requirements

  • The international student must be enrolled full time for the semester they are applying for the emergency scholarship (does not apply to summer semesters).
  • The international student must be in good standing with the University
  • The international student must be properly maintaining F-1/J-1 status
  • The student must demonstrate urgent/essential need for financial assistance
    • Funding is granted to students on the basis of documented, unforeseen financial need. This includes:
      • Sudden illness or hospitalization
      • Loss of employment, income, or other financial support
      • Major accident
      • Natural disaster
      • Dramatic personal or political event at home
      • Among other emergencies
    • This does not include:
      • Credit card debt
      • Poor use of scholarship funding
      • Loans to friends and family
      • Poor financial choices

Application Steps

STEP 01

Ensure you have met the Eligibility criteria.

STEP 02

Complete and submit the International Student Emergency Scholarship Application.

STEP 03

Send completed application to oip@nsuok.edu or drop off at the Office of International between regular office hours.

Upon review of your application, students may be requested to meet in person with the OIP staff for further review.

Award Processing & Amounts

  • Students will be notified via email if they are eligible/ineligible for the scholarship
  • If eligible, students will receive instructions via email on the dispersion of the funds

NOTE: Award amounts will vary depending on each case and needs of the student, not surpassing the maximum of $1,500.00 USD per Academic Year
