Presidents Cabinet was called to order by Provost Rugg at 9 a.m.
Members present: Dr. William Rugg, Mr. Tim Foutch, Dr. Laura Boren, Mr. Jerry
Cook, and Mr. David Koehn
Members not present: Dr. Steve Turner

Capitol Project Update

Mr. Foutch reported that all projects are progressing as planned. See below for a detailed list of activities.

Administration Building Roof Replacement

  • Punch list items underway

UC Market Caf Remodel

  • Punch list items underway

Multi Purpose Event Center

  • Steel erection continuing and progressing as scheduled
  • Electric transformer to be delivered 02/08/13. This will establish temporary power to site for construction purposes.
  • Metal/Drywall contractor will be onsite 02/04/13 to begin preliminary installation

Fitness Center Renovation

  • Programming phase is 98% complete
  • Final building revision and budget projection by 02/05/13

Low Vision Clinic

  • Final programming meeting scheduled 01/30/13
  • Project bids scheduled to be released by March 2013

Wyly House Project

  • Final Programming and Design meeting scheduled with Ambling for 01/30/13

Green and White Room Renovation

  • Programming and design meetings complete
  • Structural bid documents complete
  • Bid documents in development phase

Academic Advising Model

In preparation of moving to an official articulated advisement model, Dr. Boren asked members of Cabinet what information is needed to move forward. Cabinet members stated that clear and concise information to all areas will help direct students to the appropriate channels when questions arise. Mr. Foutch stated that the Master Plan process should help with long term needs. Future progress and implementation information will be provided to the NSU community as the restructure of Enrollment Management moves forward.

Enrollment Management Spring Priorities

Dr. Boren discussed current priorities within the new structure of Enrollment Management. Staff members are meeting and processes are being enhanced to better assist in all areas within the new structure.

D-23:

Dr. Boren handed out a draft outline of a plan of action for NSU Destination 2023: A ten-year roadmap of distinction through degree completion. This draft plan includes lead areas, measures of progress, act priorities, and innovative program areas. Past and present resource tools will be utilized to drive this plan through completion. Cabinet will continue discussions to put this plan into action in the next few weeks/months. Information will be made available as this plan is finalized.

NIMS Training

Dr. Rugg reported that there are still training certificates needed in order to be considered a compliant campus. All cabinet members will complete the needed training as soon as possible.

Change in Tassel Color Proposal:

Dr. Rugg informed the Cabinet that the university bookstore has proposed changing the current color of regalia tassels from the traditional academic colors to NSU green. After discussions from each Cabinet member, it was determined that feedback was needed from Academic Deans, Faculty Council and NSGA before a decision would be made. Dr. Rugg will report back to the group.
