Cabinet was called to order by President Turner at 9:00 a.m.
Members present: Dr. Steve Turner, Dr. Tom Jackson (for Dr. Rugg), Mr. Tim Foutch, Dr. Laura Boren, Mr. Ben Hardcastle, Mr. David Koehn
Members not present: Dr. Bill Rugg

President welcomed Mr. Ben Hardcastle to the group. Mr. Hardcastle joined NSU on March 25, 2013 as the Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing. The group welcomed him as well. Mr. Hardcastle expressed his excitement to be at NSU and is looking forward to working with everyone to help move the university forward.

Capitol Project Update

Mr. Foutch reported that all projects are progressing as planned. See below for a detailed list of activities.

Multi Purpose Event Center

  • Structural steel erection is 85% complete
  • Mezzanine deck concrete pours have begun
  • Precast riser installation 70% complete
  • Roof contractor to begin wood blocking and insulation week of 03/25/13
  • Interior wall construction has begun
  • Plumber and Mechanical subcontractors are installing northwest half rough in elements
  • Exterior precast panels to begin 04/01/13
  • Building scheduled to be dried in week of 04/15/13

Fitness Center Renovation

  • Final building revision documents and budget projection being developed

Low Vision Clinic

  • Project bids scheduled to be released by April 11, 2013

Wyly House Project

  • Continuing discussions regarding project funding

Green and White Room Renovation

  • Structural bids are $1000.00 over original projection
  • Remaining bids will contain alternates to ensure overall project budget is maintained

Occupational Therapy Build Out

  • Architect is developing contract documents
  • Project scope and assessment underway

Proposed 2013-14 Holiday Schedule

Mr. Foutch provided the group with a proposed 2013-14 Holiday schedule for review, discussion and approval. After some discussion, this item was tabled until the next meeting for continued discussions. Information will be made available from Human Resources when finalized.

Legislative Update

President Turner updated the group of his discussions at the Capitol with Legislators last week. HB1721 relates to changes in income guidelines for families qualifying for the Oklahoma's Promise Program. If passed, the second check on annual earnings limits will be reduced from $100,000 to $60,000 impacting thousands of families. President Turner also visited with key legislators regarding FY14 budget needs for Higher Education including a Concurrent Resolution for housing needs. President Turner will continue to visit with Legislators regarding these important issues throughout the legislative session. Details of items will be made available in the President's Update coming out in the next few days.

RUSO Board Items for April 2013

President Turner reminded the group that all Board items for the April meeting are due to RUSO at the end of this week. The group discussed items to be submitted and will provide all materials and information to the President's Office for submission by the deadline. The April issue of the Reflections Newsletter will need to be completed and submitted electronically to RUSO in early April for the Board meeting. Printed copies will be provided as needed for mailing lists as well.

Mr. Koehn reminded the group that Cell Phone Allowance Forms are due to Payroll by end of March.
