President's Office Conference Room

Meeting was called to order by Dr. Turner at 10:30 A.M.

Attending: Dr. Steve Turner, Dr. Mark Arant, Dr. Laura Boren, Mr. David Koehn, Mr. Ben Hardcastle

Discussion of Non NSU Employees Acting as Employees - Discussion as to whether non-NSU employees (such as ROTC instructors, Federal Government Employees), should be in our payroll system. David Koehn is looking into ways to allow them Blackboard and greenmail access without placing them in the payroll system and the creation of a volunteer waiver for these employees.

Update on Willis Parking Lot and Other Projects- Willis: We will set the final light poles today. Lights should be on tonight. Cleaning and final grading will continue through today and likely tomorrow. Striping company is expected to begin blasting and striping today. This will take a couple of days. Will plan on beginning irrigation late this week or 1st of next week depending on sub-contractor schedule. We will complete the comp shop today. Grounds team will install landscape once irrigation is complete. We plan on being complete by end of next week. Site will look complete less irrigation and sod Thursday morning for RUSO.

EC Glass: Replacement glass for the broken windows has been ordered.

Fitness Center: Prepping the building for a slab pour next Tuesday. Plumber and electrician are complete with their underground. Slab prep will begin today (base rock/vapor barrier/final forms....) All steel is on site. Roof bids for pool area open Thursday. We are anticipating these bids to come in slightly higher than US communities pricing. Remaining slab pours will be spaces 1-2 weeks out. Steel erection is targeted to begin 8-4-2014.

Seminary Hall Carpet: Stair treads should be complete today.

OT Phase II: Painters are complete. ITS will be moving the data drops later this week. Cabinets will begin 7-28-2014. Flooring will begin 7-29-2014. Punch list will be complete by 8-4-2014. Move-in will begin 8-4-2014.

Opening Meeting/Opening Week Activities - Dr. Turner will send out the details on the Opening Meeting, to be on August 12, 9 A.M. in the PAC.
TCC will provide snacks in front of the building (8-9 A.M.), Fit-Future will also set up a table before the meeting.

Dr. Arant will make the announcement about Collaboration Events.

Enrollment Update -- Discussion on enrollment reports process (how it is gathered, date/timelines).
Dr. Boren informed the group specific postcards were sent to two groups of students, those with holds and those without. Emails have been going out consistently to all students since the semester ended, (all summer).

New Students enrolled have received a booklet ( the serious piece ). 300 transfer students have already enrolled for orientation. Dr. Boren stated Advisors are encouraging signing up with enrollment.

Dr. Arant and Dr. Boren are looking into a trend of low numbers in Senior enrollment.

Calendar Events

Continued Discussion on Staff Development Day - There was a discussion lead by Dr. Turner regarding possible guest speaker(s) for the next Staff Development Day. October 28 has been selected as the date, with a preliminary event the evening of October 27 to kick things off.
Dr. Turner suggested Dr. Tom Cottrell since he has Oklahoma ties; Dr. Cottrell is one of the founders of the Disney Institute. Dr. Boren offered to look into the possibility of using Dr. Cottrell.

Ben Hardcastle shared a print out of Organizational Culture Assessment . There was a discussion on using this tool for university supervisors, in connection with Staff Development Day.

Dr. Turner informed the group of the upcoming RUSO Regents visit to NSU. The Cabinet is invited to attend the breakfast on Friday morning in the Webb Tower room.

Recommendations for Leadership Tahlequah need to be to Dr. Turner as quickly as possible, (deadline is August 8).

Dr. Turner shared AASCU handouts with notes he wanted to share with the Cabinet.
