Cabinet Meeting Minutes October 6, 2014

President's Office Conference Room

Meeting was called to order by Dr. Turner at 3:00 P.M.

Attending: Dr. Steve Turner, Dr. Mark Arant, Dr. Laura Boren, Mr. David Koehn, Mr. Ben Hardcastle

Ben Hardcastle shared hand-outs regarding the Tulsa Research Study. The results just came in today, so he will review them for errors and omissions and report more at a later date. He would like the cabinet to review before sending the result, findings and recommendations to Tulsa Research Task Force. There was a group discussion on points 5 and 8 of Phase One. (5. Develop key messages specifically for the Broken Arrow campus to help differentiate it from the Tahlequah campus. 8. Promote all three NSU campuses to respective target audiences.) The decision was made there should be an equally succinct message for each campus. It was suggested to try a pilot program for NSUBA transfer students.

David Koehn presented information regarding Capital Projects updates. All projects are progressing as planned. Listed are just a few of the projects. The design for the existing Hall of Honor, to be moved from Jack Dobbins Field House to the Event Center, has been approved. Bid packages are being developed for exterior wall caulking of the University Center. The roof repair on Haskell Hall has been completed. Bath House work completed. Fitness Center work continues with increased manpower to help stay on schedule. East sidewalk of the Library has been poured. Demolition work is complete on the old entrance project of the Library. Circle of Excellence Memorial is in final stages of design. Work will depend on South side of Library progress. New student housing project is progressing. Working on contract with GH2 Architects for Phase I Remodel of Wilson Hall. Carpet is on site for the Broken Arrow administration carpet replacement. Carpet should be installed this week.

Dr. Turner informed that Laura Boren's group has reviewed and sent feedback regarding the Smart Choice Scholarship Program. She will review this information and share with the cabinet.
There was an assessment meeting today with the JF Smith Group, Dr. Turner will summarize and share this information soon.
Staff Development Day Dr. Arant gave a brief update; he and Dr. Boren have a speaker lined up and are working on finalization.
Dr. Turner reminded the group the November RUSO Board items are due October 10, 2014.

Governor Fallin's 2nd Annual STEM Summit is October 7th.
OSRHE Guns on Campus interim study is October 8th.
OSRHE Campus Safety and Security Summit is October 29th.
NORA Summit is October 7th on campus, expecting 300 to attend.
