Cabinet Meeting Notes November 4, 2014

Cabinet was called to order by President Turner at 9:00 a.m.

Members present were: Dr. Steve Turner, Dr. Laura Boren, Dr. Mark Arant, Mr. David Koehn, and Mr. Ben Hardcastle

Members absent were: None

Small Project Account: Mr. Koehn handed out an updated proposal regarding Small Departmental Capital Project Process. He explained the process and the group reviewed for approval. After discussions related to procedures, it was approved.

Salary Plan: Mr. Koehn handed out documents listing current positions/salaries as compared to the current utilized market from Condrey. The group discussed best practices to ensure fair and accurate processes based on a true base salary for like positions and to be systematically fair regarding all positions.

Staff Development Day: Mr. Koehn reported that Human Resources and Staff Council are putting together a training calendar so that we have relative and ongoing training for all staff. They discussed the proposed speaker for Staff Development Day. Mr. Koehn handed out a proposal and after discussions, all approved to move forward.

Enrollment Update: Dr. Boren reported the current enrollment in Credit Hours is at 35,521 for spring 2015. She reminded the group that students with 59 hours or less just began enrolling Monday. The Registrar's office is working on enrollment reports to be sent out soon.

End of Semester Preparations: Dr. Boren gave the group dates for the end of semester activities. The list included Veteran's Day-November 11th, RiverHawk Rally-November 15th, last home football game-November 15th, and Late Night Breakfast-December 8th. She also reported that students are active on all campuses.

RUSO Legislative Agenda FY 2015: President Turner updated the group on legislative agenda items being considered. He stated the top items would include promoting teacher education and health care shortages.

RUSO Board Items: President Turner reviewed the current board items being considered at the November RUSO Board meeting.

Announcements

OSRHE 2014 Fall Legislative Forum Wed, November 19th (Dr. Turner, Dr. Cambiano, Mr. Hardcastle, and Mr. Cook will attend).

Higher Ed Day at the Capital President Turner informed the group that the next Higher Ed Day will be held on February 10, 2015.
