Peter Drucker once said that, "Leadership is not magnetic personality. That can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not making friends and influencing people. That is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations."

Today we are gathered to officially confer upon Dr. Steve Turner the presidency of Northeastern State University. We believe that Dr. Turner will lead us with the qualities described above.

The staff of NSU has a strong and true history of excellence and dedication, and with Dr. Turner at the helm we look forward to a brighter future. One where we will be encouraged to look and reach higher towards greatness, where we will expect more from ourselves and each other. Where we will continue to live out daily our mission, vision and values and we will continue to foster a feeling of community and family. After all that is what we want to be. We want to be a place where our student’s faculty and staff feel safe. Where we can learn all that NSU can teach us and grow to our fullest potential.
