What is a Degree Works degree audit?
Degree Works accumulates your data on general education requirements, major, concentration, and minor requirements, NSU and transfer courses, approved exceptions and substitutions, and other information to create a unique report showing your progress toward degree completion. A Degree Works audit provides up-to-date information on completed and outstanding degree requirements including hours needed to graduate and GPA information.
I think my audit is incorrect. What should I do?
Please ask your academic advisor for assistance. The first step is to clarify what information you believe is wrong. These are the most common problems and courses of action:
• My major, concentration, and/or minor is wrong or missing on my audit.
Please contact your academic advisor for assistance with selecting and/or updating your information.
• The requirements for my major are wrong.
Look at the catalog term that appears in the degree block of the audit. According to our records this is the catalog year/term that you are using to complete your major requirements. If you believe you should be using older or newer requirements, contact your academic advisor.
• My courses don’t appear in the right place.
Degree Works uses a ‘best fit’ approach for meeting requirements so classes may apply to different sections as you take more courses. If you have further questions, please contact your academic advisor.
• My transfer courses are not counting toward requirements.
Your academic advisor will determine if your transfer work needs to be evaluated.
• I was given permission to substitute a course, but it’s not showing on my audit.
Please check with your academic advisor to determine if the request has been submitted and/or approved. Approved requests are entered into Degree Works as quickly as possible but there may be a longer processing time close to the end of the semester.
I’m pursuing two degrees (BA and BS). Only one appears on the audit. How can I check the requirements for my other program of study?
If the Other Programs of Study field in the header section of your audit has “Yes”, look at the degree information next to your name at the top of the screen. You’ll notice that the degree box has a drop-down arrow. Use this to select your second degree. Once you select this, an audit with the additional degree and major will display. If the Other Programs of Study field is blank, please see your academic advisor.
I want to change my major. How can I see what would be required if I made this change?
You can use the “What If” option on the Audits tab to do an audit using criteria you select. Please be sure to select a Catalog term and Major. What If audits do not guarantee that you will be able to major in the area you select. If you decide you’d like to change your major, contact your current academic advisor.
How is my degree audit different from my transcript?
Your degree audit is a tool to provide you with academic information related to your degree progress. It displays courses required and completed in your degree program. Your transcript is your official academic record and provides a chronological list of courses completed and other academic information.
