Student Responsibilities | Northeastern State University

Student Responsibilities

Each student is responsible for the correctness of classes selected to meet degree program requirements. For information regarding academic integrity, please view the NSU Student Handbook.

Students are responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures, and regulations of Northeastern State University, including the responsibility for meeting all graduation requirements and for checking their degree audit for accuracy. Advisors may not substitute, waive or exempt students from any established requirement or academic standard. While advisors make every effort to provide accurate and current information, all advising information regarding coursework, academic progress, and graduation is considered unofficial. The NSU Registrar's office is the official and final authority for all program, degree, and graduation requirements.

Advisors (University, Academic, and Faculty) provide information on degree requirements, clarify policies and procedures, discuss educational and career options, review academic progress, and direct students to other resources when necessary.

Students have the responsibility to:

  • Make advising appointments in advance, especially during enrollment periods;
  • Keep scheduled appointments and arrive on time;
  • Prepare for advising appointments by reviewing their degree audit, developing a list of potential courses, and writing down questions/concerns in advance;
  • Be familiar with degree programs and requirements of the university;
  • Seek out answers to questions;
  • Accept responsibility for enrollment decisions and educational plans.

Additional information regarding student responsibilities, academic requirements, and NSU policies can be viewed in the Student Handbook.
