 If you receive a threatening call:

  • Ascertain as much information from the caller as possible. Use the checklist provided below to assist you in recording information obtained from a telephone bomb threat.
  • Notify University Police main dispatch at 918-444-2468 or ext. 2468 from an on campus phone.
  • Notify your supervisor.
  • Do NOT activate the building alarm system to evacuate. 

If you receive a threatening e-mail:

  • Notify University Police main dispatch at 918-444-2468 or ext. 2468 from an on campus phone.
  • Do not delete the e-mail.
  • Forward the e-mail as directed by Public Safety: University_Police@nsuok.edu
  • Do NOT activate the building alarm system to evacuate.

 If you see a suspicious item or unattended packages:

  • Notify University Police main dispatch at 918-444-2468 or ext. 2468 from an on campus phone.
  • Avoid using cellular phones and two way radios. Radio signals have the potential to detonate a bomb.
  • Evacuate the area and seek protective cover from the bomb and potential debris.
  • Do NOT approach or inspect suspicious items or unattended packages.
  • Do NOT congregate near the incident scene as onlookers may impede first responders and law enforcement.

Active Shooter:

  • Run-to nearest exist if safe to do so. Be aware of suspicious person(s). Be aware of your surroundings, location, and sounds. 
  • Hide- if you are unable to evac safely choose a safe location preferably without windows, ensure the lock can be engaged. 
  • Fight - only as a last resort
  • Call 911 or Campus Police when safe to do so
