Faculty Led-Programs: Resources for Faculty
Short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs allow students who are unable to leave their studies for a semester the opportunity to experience education abroad. These trips are faculty sponsored and coordinated, and students may be able to receive class credit for trips by contacting the faculty sponsor. NSU tuition and fees for class credit are not included in price.

Faculty-Led Program Process
Step-By-Step Guide
Faculty-Led Study Abroad 101 is an info session designed to introduce faculty to leading a study abroad program. During these sessions, faculty will learn about program vendors, how to begin researching options, and what steps to take next.
Meet with your department chair and dean to discuss your proposed trip abroad, clearly outlining your ideas and goals. This conversation provides an opportunity to receive formal approval, gather recommendations, and refine the plan based on their guidance before moving forward with organizing and leading the trip.
Email studyabroad@nsuok.edu to schedule a time to meet and discuss your interest in a potential trip and determine the best vendor/s.
Schedule an interest meeting with a program affiliate to start the process of planning an itinerary for your trip.
Study Abroad can attend Zoom meetings with vendors, if desired, to provide support as you plan your trip.
There is no commitment until the service contract agreement is signed!
Once you have built your trip, notify the department chair, dean, Study Abroad, etc to review the final trip for approval before signing the agreement.
Support for faculty-led programs includes a variety of promotional and planning opportunities. All programs are invited to table at the NSU Study Abroad Fair and may also participate in additional promotional efforts such as posting on OIP social media and sending a campus-wide email, pending approval. Faculty are encouraged to hold interest meetings, attend planning meetings, and may reserve the OIP conference room by reaching out in advance.
Northeastern State University and the Office of International Programs strives to enlarge the cohort of faculty engaged in international dialogue and to increase the international awareness and interest of undergraduate students through exposure to faculty with overseas knowledge and experience.
