Study Abroad on a Short-Term Program!

Faculty-Led Short-Term Program

Short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs allow students who are unable to leave their studies for a semester the opportunity to experience education abroad. Students will travel in a group with the trip leader and other travelers.

Short-terms trips are faculty sponsored and coordinated, and students may be able to receive class credit for trips by contacting the faculty sponsor. NSU tuition and fees for class credit are not included in price.

Academic Calendar

Determined by trip leader, but generally 1-4 weeks during NSU Fall, Spring, Summer, or Winter break.

Expense Breakdown

  • Program Fee: Varying (Program typically includes housing, program excursions, on-site assistance)
  • Tuition & Fees: NSU tuition and fees for class credit are not included in Program Fee price.
  • Additional Expenses: Airfare, passport and visa fees if applicable, and personal spending (not a comprehensive list).

Financial Aid & Scholarships:

  • Fundraisers: Faculty may work with students on fundraising ideas to help offset the cost of the program.
  • Federal Aid: Students will need to check with NSU Financial Aid for details regarding financial aid applying to a short-term program.
  • Study Abroad Grant: Students can apply for a Study Abroad Grant to help offset the cost of studying abroad. Visit the Office of International Programs Scholarship webpage to learn more, and reach out the Scholarship Office for additional opportunities.

Application Process

Contact the Trip Leader for more information about the trip and enrollment. Once you are admitted to a Faculty-Led Trip, you may apply for a Study Abroad Grant.
