Europa-Universität Viadrina
NSU has partnered with Europa Universitat Viadrina (EUV) in Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany (located along the Germany-Poland border) through which NSU students may study abroad on exchange. This allows students to pay NSU tuition and fees while immersing themselves in study abroad in Germany.

five residence halls.

Academic Information:
All NSU students seeking to study abroad on an approved affiliated, partner, or exchange program must complete a Course Approval Form for their education abroad coursework to be applied toward major, minor, and or core requirements.
EUV Transcript
- Transcript will be issued by host university. Please see their website for further instructions. Students will need to request their transcript be sent to studyabroad@nsuok.edu.
- Course credit earned from host university can be transferred as NSU credits by completing the NSU Course Approval Form.
- Transferred credit will be counted toward graduation after Registrar Office approves the course evaluation report if the course matches with NSU degree plan
Note: The Course Approval Form replaces the WES Evaluation; however, if deemed necessary by NSU, an external evaluation (such as through WES or ECE) may be required at the students' personal expense)
EUV Academic Calendar
EUV follows a different academic calendar than NSU, so the semester dates might feel a bit unfamiliar.

Summer Semester: April - September
Be sure to discuss these options with your academic advisor, Financial Aid, and the Scholarship Office as it may affect enrollment. The semesters overlap both spring and fall semesters.

Program Cost Information
Expense Breakdown
- Tuition & Fees: Bilateral exchange involves students paying NSU tuition and fees at their standard in-state or out-of-state rate.
- Housing: Paid separately to the housing provider in Germany.
- Other Expenses: Students will be responsible for their own meals, textbooks, airfare, passport and visa fees, health insurance, daily living costs and any other expenses.
Financial Aid & Scholarships:
- Federal Aid: In most cases, federal financial aid and existing institutional scholarships can be applied to your exchange semester. Check with NSU Financial Aid for details.
- Study Abroad Grant: Students can apply for a Study Abroad Grant to help offset the cost of studying abroad. Visit the Office of International Programs Scholarship webpage to learn more, and reach out the Scholarship Office for additional opportunities.

Student Responsibilities Before Applying
Before completing the NSU to EUV Nominee Form, students should:
- Meet with academic advisor: Meet with your Advisor about whether studying abroad is a good fit for your academic plan. Discuss whether study abroad fits your graduation timeline.
- Meet with Financial Aid, Bursar, and Scholarship Office: Meet with Financial Aid, Bursar’s Office and the Scholarship Office soon to learn how your aid may apply toward the study abroad program.
- Review and start the Study Abroad Checklist
- Research the program
Application Process
Step 1: Confirm you Meet Eligibility Requirements
- NSU full-time student
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- Good academic & disciplinary standing (student conduct checks will be done once a student has applied for a program)
- Sophomore standing recommended for semester programs (completed at least 30 hours at the time of study abroad program)
- Valid Passport (students will need a copy of their passport which is valid at least 6 months after the scheduled return date.)
Step 2: NSU to EUV Nominee Form (Phase 1)
Before you can apply to EUV, you must be officially nominated by NSU. By completing the NSU to EUV nominee form, students are formalizing their interest in studying abroad at EUV.
Required documents to upload:
- NSU Transcript
- Recommendation Letter
Once the form is submitted, the student will be notified if they have been selected to attend EUV and can begin the EUV application.

Step 3: Complete the EUV Application (Phase 2)
Once the Office of International Programs approves your nomination, you will be invited to complete the formal EUV application. Application deadlines are currently May 31 for the Winter semester and November 30 for the Summer semester.

Nominated students will receive a link to the application system. The application has to be filled in, printed and signed by the student and the home university and send with the following documents:
- Transcript of Records
- Photo
- Copy of passport
- Proof of German or English language knowledge (optional)
Student Visa Information
Students with a U.S. passport will not need to apply for a visa PRIOR to departure. However, upon arrival, students will need to apply for a residence permit upon arrival.

Please note: Obtaining a visa is the responsibility of the student.
Step 4: Complete the NSU Required Documents (Phase 3)
Students will be added to the NSU Study Abroad Blackboard Org, where they can complete and submit required documents and schedule their mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation.
