Clubs and Organizations

From networking to leadership opportunities, NSU’s over 80 clubs and organizations allow our students to build lasting relationships while getting the full college experience.

Whether you’re an incoming or current transfer student, NSU’s transfer advisors are available to assist you with transcript evaluation, information on degree programs and support services. NSU is where You Belong.

Graduate College

Whether transitioning to graduate school or returning to higher education, NSU’s graduate college is your next step. Choose from over 25 master's degrees and several certificate programs.

Eligibility For Services

Official Request for Accommodation

All students must complete intake forms before any accommodation can be considered. It is the student's responsibility to put their needs into writing.  This office can counsel or provide recommendations to the student regarding various accommodations that might be available to them, however, it is the student's ultimate responsibility to request a specific service or need.

Documentation

All students must provide documentation to support their disability(ies).  

  • IEP (Can be used temporarily, until reassessed using adult testing instrument)
  • Physician/Licensed professional documentation, on letterhead, which states diagnosis and classroom limitations. (Official medical records are not appropriate and will not be accepted to meet documentation requirements.)
  • Or, Adult Testing results from a licensed psychometrist which states diagnosis and classroom limitations.

Information obtained is confidential and is used solely for the purpose of documenting a disability and identifying appropriate support services.

 Process and Information Sharing

NSU:

Checklist of documentation needed from each student seeking services at NSU (any of the following are appropriate):

TCC:

When appropriate, TCC may share student information with NSU via encrypted email (with *signed release from student) to allow for student follow-up and initiation of appropriate institutional processes.  This may include: 

  • Past accommodation letter, 
  • List of approved accommodations, 
  • Documentation of disability (please see NSU checklist of documentation needed)
  • Other information that would help successfully transition the student to NSU services . 

 *Appropriate release of information documents should be utilized and maintained in accordance with law and institutional policies.

 Approval Process

The receipt of all completed forms and documentation begin the approval process.  The forms and documentation are reviewed for completeness and the student is scheduled for an interactive intake meeting.  During the intake meeting the student's strengths and weaknesses are discussed to review the appropriateness of all requested accommodations.  Upon completion of the intake process the student and faculty are notified in writing of approved accommodations.

Appeal Procedure

Any student that is denied accommodations is eligible to request an appeal.  The appeal must be submitted in writing to the Dean of Student Affairs at studentaffairs@nsuok.edu within 5 working days of the event.   The student will be notified in writing of the appeal decision.  All appeals decisions are considered final.

Grievance Procedure

Anyone wishing to file a grievance may utilize the established grievance procedure located on Student Conduct and Development  under Report a Concern & Grievance Procedures.
