Mentoring Program
Our Mission
The SSS Peer Mentoring Program will provide first-generation and transfer students with a one-on-one peer mentor who will provide students with the understanding and ability to navigate through college and achieve overall success.
How to be a Mentee
- Be a TRIO participant
- Must be enrolled as a freshman or sophomore at NSU
- Demonstrate a desire to participate in the program and be willing to abide by all TRIO Mentoring Program policies and procedures
- Agree to a one-year commitment to the program and attend sessions with your mentor
- Be willing to communicate with your mentor weekly
How to be a Mentor
- Be a TRIO participant
- Must be enrolled as a junior or senior at NSU with a 3.0 GPA, or higher
- Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
- Agree to attend mentor training as required
- Attend monthly meetings with Program Coordinator
- Spend a minimum of four hours a month with your mentees
- Build a trusting relationship with your mentees
- Listen, be patient, and understanding while mentoring
- Balance life and your mentoring responsibilities
